A wonderful alternative to a Bloody Mary, with the perfect balance of robust tomato juice, tart orange juice, lime juice to taste, and a special blend of spices. The Sangrita has been around for over 50 years, and is the perfect partner to that shot of tequila, to savor and sip all morning long.
Ingredients
1/2 dried ancho chile, stemmed and seeded
1/2 cup fresh orange juice
1/2 cup tomato juice
2 tablespoons fresh lime juice
1 tablespoon mined onion
1/2 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
Salt and freshly ground pepeper
Method
- In a small skillet, toast the ancho chile over moderate heat until it begins to blister, about 1 1/2 minutes per side.
- In a blendeer, combine the orange, tomato and lime juices with the onion and Worcestershire sauce, crumble in the toasted ancho and puree.
- Strain through a coarse sieve.
- Season the sangrita with salt and pepper and cill for 20 minutes.
- Pour in a salted rim glass and grnish with lime
- Serve with a shot glass of Agavales Reposoda Tequila to pour in glass
